If you don't understand the business, you won't change behavior...

That is my advice to many of the people that are starting to work in behavioral science.

It's not enough to know theories, models and frameworks of change, you also need to understand strategy, business models, growth and so on...

This will help you translate what you know from change into what organizations need and help you speak their language.

These books are a great starting point:

1. Design a better business by Patrick Van der Pijl , Justin Lokitz and Lisa Kay Solomon - I’ve created a few workshops from this book, such as the Vision Workshop (of course adapted a bit)

Other tools in here -Team Charter, Story Telling Canvas, Innovation Matrix

2. The invincible Company by Alexander Osterwalder - great book with so many examples of business models from real companies. I also like the explore and exploit way of framing.

3. Business Model Shifts - talks about 6 main ways to create value.

The Service Shift The Stakeholder Shift The Digital Shift The Platform Shift The Exponential Shift The Circular Shift

4.Good Strategy/Bad Strategy by Richard Rumelt

5. Playing to Win (on Kindle, not pictured) by Roger Martin - I have used this framework and have even run workshops with stakeholders to create a strategy - I have the whole thing on Miro and may share on this later.

6.Designing for Growth Fieldbook by Jeanne Liedtka - Practical with templates and even an example

7. Business Model Navigator by Oliver Gassmann (also on Kindle )- The version I have has 55 Business Models it covers, though I believe a new version is out with more.

8. Blue Ocean Shift by Kim and Mauborgne (kindle)- I’ve also used this in some workshops ( they also have a small course on their website if you want to know more)

I added a few extra ones I have on Kindle to the list (which are not pictured)
