What is the Theoretical Domains Framework?

The Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) synthesizes 33 theories of behavior and behavior change into 14 domains. The TDF is a theoretical framework that serves as a lens for viewing the cognitive, affective, social, and environmental influences on behavior.

It was developed in collaboration between psychologists and implementation researchers.

You can map the COM-B model and the TDF to give you a better understanding of what drives behavior.

The image is one of the frames that will be included in my recent course on Diagnosing Behaviors with COM-B.

I would say that if you need a quick diagnosis, then COM-B is sufficient, but if you have time and can go deeper, then coding the TDF's as well can help you add more context.

If you are starting, then COM-B is a great diagnostic tool and you should most probably start there
