What is a Behavior Design Canvas and how can it help you?
I made the canvas a while back to help me present a summary to stakeholders, without overwhelming them with all the details.
It can be used as a hypothesis to then test and evaluate what has been done by the teams working on behavior change.
I have since done a few changes to this version, and to be fair, depending on the client and needs, I may change it a little bit.
So what does it include
Business: 1) Business Opportunity (can also be Challenge) 2) Business Outcomes 3) Metrics (for success and measurement)
People and Behavior: 1)Target Actor 2)Current Behavior 3)Target Behavior (I'd add here context as well)
Drivers (Barriers or Enablers) that we are addressing 1) Capability 2)Opportunity 3)Motivation
Strategies and Tactics 1)Intervention Strategies (Types) 2) Evaluation Strategy (or this could be design principles) 3) Solutions ( This could also include specific BCT's - or you can go straight to solutions
Costs and Results
You may need to justify your investment to your stakeholders, and so I have also left an area to show just how much we will invest and how much we think it will give us back
Again, you may need to modify it to suit your organization, but it's a nice and simple dashboard to align and present to those not involved in the project.
What would you add, change or improve?
The canvas is free and available in my free frameworks - if you need the link, let me know in the comments
