We should not have to empower people.... (even if it's well intentioned)
People walk in the door with power and as leaders of an organization you have to enable the conditions for people to be able to exercise that power.
I have always liked that quote from Patty McCord - because it hits at something I talk about, which is to enable the conditions for behavior to occur.
Organizations talk about behavior as the driving force for a great culture, yet so little of the evidence based literature is put into practice.
We need to have new thinking tools, like those that we find in behavioral science to help us deal with the complicated and complex change that is faced by people and the organizations.
I don't mean you only use behavior isights, I mean that you add it to the tools you already use to compliment and elevate your work, so you can have a higher rate of success.
