Today is International women's day!! 🎉 - a day that should be celebrated not just today, but every day.
The theme this year is to embrace equity.
>"It's not just something we say. >It's not just something we write about. >It's something we need to think about, know, value and embrace. >It's what we believe in, unconditionally.
Equity means creating an inclusive world." as stated on the International Women's Day 2023 website.
"Equity means creating an inclusive world" - that sentence got me thinking:
How we can apply behavioral insights to design a more inclusive world?
That question lead me to the great book by Tinna C. Nielsen and Lisa Kepinski called Inclusion Nudges Guidebook (which I own)
Designing for inclusion is an important aspect of creating products, services, experiences, processes, policies, and opportunities that are equally accessible and usable by diverse groups of people.
Behavioral science can play a role in this process by providing insights for organizations who want to make inclusion the norm.
I really like this sentence from Lisa and Tinna
"Making Inclusion the Norm"!!!
The book is a great resource for inspiration and applying solutions to get to the inclusion we should all be striving for.
In the book you will find the INCLUSIVE Action Model which includes: (These are great principles to strive for)
I: Include people, information, ideas and knowledge N: Nurture and embrace differences with empathy C: Conquer outdated social norms & discrimiatory practices L: Leverage diversity of perspectives and backgrounds U: Undermine the negative impact of unconsious bias S: Seek out diversity I: Implement redesigns of practices, processes and systems based on facts and behavioral insights V:Verbalize support & actions for inclusion, diversity & equality E: Empower people and groups
How are you designing and applying equity in your organization to create a more inclusive environment?
