Investigating the Persuasive Design Model for Health App Design recently for a project I'm working on.
I like to see what else is out there, and how I can adapt it, for example, how can I use the BCW and Behavior Change Techniques to enrich something like PDS (in the image -> source Oyibo, Kiemute 2021)
The PSD model was originally proposed by Harri Oinas-Kukkonen and Marja Harjumaa in 2009, as a framework for designing and evaluating information systems that aim to change users' attitudes or behaviors . The researchers built on some principles from the Fogg model, ( I don't really work with this model to be fair at all), hence why I am looking more at it from a different angle.
🎯The PSD model is divided into four categories of persuasive features:
1️⃣ Primary Task Support: Persuasive features that help and motivate users to carry out the target behavior. Examples include Reduction and Self-Monitoring.
2️⃣ Dialog Support: Persuasive features that motivate users to perform the target behavior through feedback and system-user interaction. Examples include Reward and Reminder.
3️⃣ Social Support: Socially oriented persuasive features that motivate users to perform the target behavior. Examples include Cooperation and Social Learning.
4️⃣ Credibility Support: Persuasive features that make the system appear credible and trustworthy. Examples include Surface Credibility and Authority.
To be fair, I don't dislike the breakdown of the categories, here specifically for a health app, though perhaps it is missing more in terms of behavior change techniques.. but that's the fun of doing evidence reviews, finding little ideas, you can combine with others, to make new things that are not seen...
