Human-Centred + Behavioral Science = Human-Centred Behavioral Science

You need both if we want to truly deliver solutions that enable change.

The truth is that I spent many years ignoring the science-backed theories, methods, and frameworks for behavior change, maybe because they were too academic, or maybe because as a practitioner I thought I knew better.

Having picked up behavioral science (which I still learn from every day) was the best thing that could have happened to my work (and to me as a person)

People and change are complex - think about yourself - I am sure even you have influences that hinder or enable change for yourself, now think about how that multiplies with your customers or employees.

Having the right tools to guide you will make a big difference in how you create solutions for change and the results you get.

The science is there to guide your hypothesis - don't ignore it - but also remember that no model is perfect!

While behavioral science is a great guide, it needs a companion-like design to bring to life the behavioral hypothesis, the needs, enjoyment, interaction, and delight.

Using one without the other is like having a race car in a city where you can only drive 20km per hour - I'm not great at analogies - maybe you got a better one?

Anyways - weekends are always a good time to read, so here are some great books to help you balance your behavioral science work

I still go back to them when I plan new projects or want to refresh certain ideas and try new things.

Have a good Friday everyone
