How can behavior insights help you be more precise when designing forms?
Forms are everywhere and bad design can cause your employees and customers to give up, feel frustrated, and possibly give you lower NPS or CES scores.
When we design things like forms, we can use behavior insights as part of our design principles.
The Behavioural economics team of the Australian Government came up with the WISER Framework:
-WHO – Understand your clients and the process. -INTRODUCTION – Offer clear instructions. Highlight key info. -STRUCTURE – Structure the form simply and guide people through it. -EXPRESSION – Write for clients, not government. Use plain English. -REPEAT – Test and iterate
Although the framework was build in the context of government forms, some of its principles can be used in private organizations as well, as it is still thought from a customer and behavior perspective.
Don't take small things like forms in your design for granted. Do use behavior as a lens when designing, so you are more precise in your design.
