Have you ever tried to build a habit or change the choices you make at work?

I have coached individuals (entrepreneurs and other leaders, as well as friends and family) on building habits or making better choices (including applying them to myself) using a framework - my wife Patricia Meza also uses a modified version of this for her wellness and habit coaching clients, as it also incorporates fitness and training, food choices.

I would like to say that building a habit is easy, but it's not always as easy as the books make it out to be (just floss one tooth)

As much motivation as you might have to do the habit, once you have put down the book, the reality is that many things can get in the way.

That is why I created this board because to do it, you need to have a process so that you can see where you are and where you are going.

One other important thing to know is that not everything you want to change needs to be a habit.

Sometimes in the session, we are able to change things that will impact the overall outcome by replacing or changing something (a bit of choice architecture, and friction can go a long way)

Also, you need to work with yourself and make sure you do things that are not so hard that you will not achieve them - there is a balance between what actions you should take and when to change things.

I am still iterating and testing this board, but this is what It would comprise of, in case you want to build your own:

1. Team Charter Session (you want to make sure the team is aligned) 2. Interviews and Background with the team 3.

Reasons for Change 4. Outcomes and Aspirations (Outcome Mapping) 5. Current Journey - the current system 6.

Target Habits 7. Barrier Mapping 8. Action Plan (testing and iterations) - micro journeys - Choice Architecture - Space Design 9.

Progress, Roadmap

The board can also be modified to help companies build habits in their products - but really, not all products are meant to be habit forming, nor should they be. (the board would have more elements but more on that in a later post)
