Are you the type of person that considers themselves good at influencing or persuading?

Remember that Influence and Persuation are tools that can be used for both good and bad.

It’s important to know when they are being used against you (though we probably fall for them sometimes even if we know) and when you can use them for good 👍🏻. (Ethics is important)

Here are some great books to add to your collection if you don’t already have them.

1. Influence by Robert Cialdini (a classic, got the newest edition to re-read)

2. Influence is your Super Power by Zoe Chance ( I’ve used a few things in her book already) - there is a part on diminishers - how we tend to be self-focused and how we can reframe.

An example - Go from: Sorry for being late (the focus is on you) to: Thank you for your patience (the focus is on them)

3. Presuation by Robert Cialdini once again. This sequel to Influence goes into teaching how to use the tools to better influence at work, at home - an example of a pre-suation opener: Do you consider yourself a helpful person?

Most of us do, we could then ask for help.. (in experiments this yielded more people to agree to do things for example)

4.

How to Win friends and

Influence People by Dale Carnage - I don’t have the physical book, but do have it on Kindle ( hence why no picture) - I actually took one of Dale’s Courses when I was around 16, and though our memories are not great, some things like asking peoples names and saying them back to them have stuck throughout all these years.

Are there any books I’m missing that you find helpful?
