Ever wonder what a workshop to find the right business challenge and behavior outcome could look like?
Here is what my framework looks like - this can be used for teams that need to work together and quickly define the right business challenge and behavior outcome before they embark on a behavior sprint or larger behavior projects. (I have iterated this from other workshops I have run, which were just problem framing for a product or service)
The workshop can be run remotely and can be done in one day (a few hours) or can be split into a few sessions, depending on how the organization works. (not everyone can spare the time, so you have to adapt to the org)
The workshop is spilt in 3 sessions:
Session 1: All about the business
The activities here include identifying the current problems, categorization, themes, voting, prioritization, and business value validation.
Session 2: All about the behavior
The activities include mapping actors, the system, the target actor, target behaviors, and the environment in which the behavior is taking place. Also, we map the journey and identify barriers, biases etc..
Session 3: Bring it all together
We work on several possible Behavior Statements, vote, refine and come up with our initial hypothesis, so we can move forward.
I have facilitated many workshops in the last years with product, service, and transformation teams to help them with things like design/concept sprints, better meetings, strategy, journey map operations, service blueprints, org change, and many more.
Workshops are not a replacement for all the work that goes on behind the scenes, the pre-research, interviews, preparation, lit reviews, desk research, etc... but they do serve a purpose, and they do help when time is limited and when we need to get the teams and experts in the room to work together.
How do you frame your problems?
If you have any questions about this framework, let me know :)
