Elon Musk Being a Behavioral Designer with Twitter - bravo!!!!
(Yes, I am being ironic with him being a purposeful behavioral designer )
He has put friction to help control the casino mechanics of social media which may help people get back some mental health! - as they have to step away from the platform and the automaticity of scrolling.
-What framework did he use?
-What behavior change technique was this?
Well, none really, it’s a business model decision, but the spillover effects are great for the brain 🧠 as it means you can’t keep mindlessly looking for dopamine, variability and rewards in trying to find that next amazing post (that rarely happens)
It got me thinking, that it would be great and the responsible thing to do to design friction like this into never ending scroll platforms.
Maybe it’s done as a default (which I guess you could give choice to override)
I wonder how much this would help and what the results of a test like this could tell us about designing for a good change.
What do you all think?
