Does Knowledge drive Behavior? … well not really
I just finished reading the book the War of Art and it sparked 2 main ideas for me. ( The book is heavy focused on resistance and how it stops us from doing the things we want to do)
💡 Idea 1:
You don’t start because you think things need to be perfect to do so.
I am guilty of this, (creating a course and a few other things and not advancing much because of this resistance)
💡 Idea 2:
Without properly designed systems and environment to drive behavior change you are not going to start anyways.
🧠 One thing that has opened my eyes as I focus more on Behavioral Science is that we need to focus on environment, triggers, rewards and accountability, systems, nudges (among a few other things) to start and stick to things.
Our brain likes shortcuts and things that are easy. You can’t (or most people can’t) just will yourself to do and stick to things.
When I was younger, I never believed in this, but the more I look at it, the more I realize that without this, we just won’t do all the things we want to do.
In summary:
⚡️Get started and care little about the initial quality. 🏗 Build systems, set behavior goals, get the right environment.
Final Thought
Most of us have all the knowledge we need to do great things, but without the right systems etc… you won’t change your current behavior.
