Behavioral change is not meant to be reduced to a set of biases you design for...

When looking at enabling behavior, it’s important that we use behavior as a way to think critically about change and to also look at different approaches and combine them.

Remember, there is no one way to do change, there is no framework to rule them all, there is no strategy or feature that will always work.

What you need is to be able to apply critical thinking to the work you are doing and to know what is out there (or where to look) to help you.

When combining, we should think about things like anthropology, sociology, psychology and economics, systems, design and for me recently even strategic foresight.

If your organization wants to benefit from behavioral science approach you need to think about a few things:

1. Align programs and solutions with a evidence-based approach.

2. Make behavioral and social science knowledge open to help improve decision-making.

3. Support all stakeholders to approach challenges with a behavioral lens when appropriate.

4. Develop contextual tools to facilitate the adoption and show value.

5. Develop competencies in your teams, so they can work systematically and can evaluate their work.

6. Establish networks for experience sharing - because as I mentioned, there is no one way to work on change, and by sharing we can learn what could work for us, that someone else tried.

7. Be practical, organizations are not academia, so you need to adapt processes to ensure you meet the realities of real world work,
